BS
EN 15038 Explained
What is BS EN 15038?
BS EN 15038 is the British version of the European
Specification Standard for Translation Services. The standard
applies to the service that delivers the translation.
Application of the standard by a service provider
gives clients the assurance that the translation delivered meets
all of the client’s specified requirements and in every
case is fit for purpose. The grade of fitness for purpose set
by his standard is set at what the European experts in the field
considered to be what a client would generally want and expect.
This is a reasonable thing to do but of course it means that there
will be situations arising in the real world of client need where
that general expectation does not apply or indeed cannot apply.
A claim of conformity to the standard can only be
made upon an application of all of the requirements in the standard.
At London Translations
- We know that clients opting for our Business
Critical Service would expect us to meet and indeed
exceed this standard. For that reason we set out to assure ourselves
that our Business Critical Service does conform to BS EN 15038
and this part of the web site demonstrates our achievement.
- In Feb 2007, London Translations became the first
translation Company in the UK to be able to demonstrate conformity
to the BS EN 15038 Translation Services and have that conformance
independently audited.
